The Episcopal Church Women
All St. Mark’s women are invited
to be a part of the ECW (Episcopal Church Women).
Not
sure what this means? The meaning has evolved as the church has opened
“official” doors for the participation of women in the life and
governance of the church, but ECW remains an opportunity for women to
gather, explore questions about faith and life, build community,
support the work of the church, and reach out to meet the needs of the
neighborhood and the world. You can check out what ECW does on a
diocesan level by going to www.ecw.thediocese.net
and on the
national
clicking www.nationalecw.org/ on ECW.
A
new group of women has been meeting since the late spring. For the
coming holiday season we plan on November 16 to provide an opportunity
for the parish to do a little holiday shopping that gives beyond what
we might wrap up and place under the tree.
The
Gifts for Life catalogue, sponsored by Episcopal Relief and Development
is a way to give gifts to the needs in our world. This is the link to
the site and the online store which well explains the multiple needs
that a few dollars go a long way to helping meet. For a preview go to www.er-d.org/GiftsForLife/
and click on some of the Gifts for Life you can give. On November 16
the ECW will have a table and copies of the catalogue for those of you
interested in knowing more about this effort of the national church.
We
meet in the Library on the Sunday of each month at 2 pm. We plan to
join
with our more experienced ECW member sisters for a holiday lunch at
Westminster Canterbury on December 9, all women are welcome to attend.
Please rsvp to Margaret if you plan to join us there.
